Tyvek (pronounced TIE-veck) is a high – density polyethylene synthetic paper like material; the name is a registered trademark of the DuPont Company.
Tyvek is very difficult to tear but can easily be cut by scissors or a craft knife. It can be coloured with almost anything including: Felt tip pens, Paint, crayons, fabric paints or printed with an inkjet printer.
Most importantly for us crafters, Tyvek has amazing properties when it gets nearheat! It bubbles and distorts creating the most wonderful effects.
Our Tyvek fabric has a wide range of art and craft applications these include:
Card making and scrap booking – create your own highly original card toppers and backgrounds!
Embroidery – Widely used in the creative textile sector to add texture to work.
Model Making - Add Texture to your models.
Tyvek fabric has a softer feel and is more flexible than the paper type sheets and has a slight texture to it. It is ideal for stitching into either before or after distortion.
